Buhari In India To Discuss Terrorism, Climate Change, Poverty

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, arrived New Delhi, India, at the third summit of India-Africa Forum, where he is to deliberate issues bothering on terrorism, climate change, and poverty.

The official platform aimed for the advancement of mutually beneficial relations between India and African nations is likely to be the biggest diplomatic event in India’s political history. Never have more than 39 heads of states gathered in the country. Basically Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi and other participating heads of state and government at this year’s summit, are expected to deliberate on issues of common concern to their countries such as climate change and international terrorism. They will also discuss additional measures aimed at boosting joint collaboration to accelerate the pace of socio-economic development in Africa and India as well as further cooperation for the alleviation of poverty, eradication of hunger, disease and illiteracy.
Prior to his departure in a statement by the special adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, the presidency said: “President Buhari, the Indian prime minister, Mr. Narendra Modi and other participating heads of state and government at this year’s summit, which follows the second summit held in Addis Ababa in 2011, will deliberate on issues currently of common concern to their countries such as climate change and international terrorism.”
